Event Assistant
Part-Time, scheduled as needed from call list
Starting Wage: $12 to $15 per hour

Event Assistants (EAs) will assist under general direction in the preparation, installation, operation, and removal of productions that come into the BMTPAC. They may also assist with various maintenance and improvement projects as needed. All EAs are general stagehands first, but the successful EA will define themselves through continued development in one or more areas of specialization. All EAs are expected to learn and perform competently the higher skills required to operate the building’s many staging and support systems.
Event Assistant Trainee

Event Assistant Trainees will carry out many of the same tasks as an Event Assistant with the expectation that they are growing and learning from their experience. Trainees will not be expected to operate complex equipment on their own until properly trained and ready. Trainees may be brought in “above call numbers” to allow them to experience and participate in higher level skills while shadowing or being directly supervised by another crew member.
Stage Services Internship
Time commitment varies depending on type of internship
Academic credit is offered through home school or department
Stage Services internships can take on a variety of forms and time commitments. The Touhill Performing Arts Center presents and hosts a wide variety of events each year. This diversity allows students to gain a range of experience in different types of events and multi-purpose venue operations. Students and faculty will work our internship coordinator to determine the best time commitment and event selection to meets the student's interest and needs. Daily time commitments my range from four hours to 16 hours depending on the events selected for the internship. These hours will be irregular and not consist of a weekly schedule however event days will be known in advance. All non-UMSL studnets will be required to register as volunteers in order to work on the UMSL campus.
